16.05.2011 -Round 5 - NSW Hillclimb Championship

Grafton Sporting Car Club will conduct Round 5 of the NSW Hillclimb Championship. The event will be run over two days to be on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th June 2011 at Mountainview Motorsport Complex. For more information please call Gail Layton on 02 6643 2283 or Ken Norton on 02 6643 5969.

Rundown of the event is:

  • Round 5 of the NSW Hillclimb Championship
  • Held at Mountain View Motor Sport Complex located at 262 Clarence Way Mountain View (about 20 minutes from the centre of Grafton)
  • Held on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th June 2011
  • Saturday will be practice for the competitors. Practice commences at 12 noon to 4.00pm
  • Sunday will  be race day. Racing commences at 9.30am to 4.00pm
  • Amenities and canteen facilities are available on both days
  • Spectator entry is free on Saturday
  • Sunday entry fees are: Adults - $10.00, Children (5-12 years) - $3.00, Students - $5.00, Family - $25.00 and Pensioners - $5.00
  • Programs are available for $3.00

15.08.2010 -Dick Willis - The Indomitable Competitor

Grafton Sporting Car Club conducted round 3 of the Club Hillclimb Series at Mountainview Motorsport Complex on Sunday 15th August 2010. This round represented to one of our clubs life members his 100th competitive event at Mountainview since the very first hillclimb on the 4th April 1965.

Dick Willis from Coffs Harbour has been supportive to our club since he joined in 1960 beginning his introduction to Motorsport. Upon Dick joining the Club he has competed in various cars; FC, FX Holden’s, Miland GT Holden, Cooper ‘S’, Austin Healy Sprites, 1970 Skyline GT, MGA, Sharp Holden, Cooper T53, T51, Lancia Ford, Brabham BT36, Jaguar XK120, Ausper Formula Junior, Cheetah, Gladiator and Stewart MG to name a few.

At the drivers briefing prior to the start of the days event Mr Gordon Poynter, founding member of the Grafton Sporting Car Club made a presentation to Dick to mark this historic occasion. The Club congratulates Dick on his 100th competitive event and hoped he unjoyed the festivities organised for the day.

 

13.06.2010 -NSW State Hillclimb Championship - Round 5

The Grafton Sporting Car Club held the 5th Round of the NSW State Hillclimb Championship at the Mountainview Motorsport Complex on 12th & 13th June 2010.

A great time was had by all competitors. Officials were very pleased with the smooth running of the event and commend the competitors and spectators on their performances both on and off the track.
